About SprigPlan: landscape planning built by gardeners

We started SprigPlan in 2024 after one of our founders spent $350 on a backyard makeover that was dead by September. Today homeowners and landscaping crews use it to plan everything from balcony planters to commercial grounds.

Our story

Why we built SprigPlan

The problem was never effort. The garden centre sold whatever was in stock, most advice online was written for a different climate, and the one landscaper we called quoted $4,000 for a design plan. We wanted something in between: a tool that knows your climate and your actual yard, and tells you plainly what will grow there and what it will cost.

Our plant data

How we build the plant database

Every profile starts from public sources: the USDA hardiness map, NOAA climate normals, county soil surveys and university extension guides. Our horticulturist then checks hardiness, mature size, spacing and care notes before a plant goes live, and we update profiles when growers report something different.

How we build SprigPlan

  • Plants are a long-term decision

A shrub can live for 30 years. We would rather tell you something will not work in your yard than let you find out the expensive way.

  • A planning tool, not a social app

No feeds, badges or streaks. You open SprigPlan, make a plan and go outside.

  • Fair pricing for small crews

Most landscaping business software is priced for large firms. A two-person crew should get the same tools for $79 a month.

Who works on SprigPlan

Eleven of us, fully remote, based in Chicago with teammates in Denver, Lisbon and Auckland.

  • Engineering

Five engineers working on the planner, the plant data and the mobile apps.

  • Horticulture

A full-time horticulturist who reviews every plant profile and zone rating.

  • Design

Two product designers making the planner easy for first-time gardeners.

  • Support

Three people who answer every support email and run onboarding for Business customers.

What we will not do

No ads in the app. No selling or sharing your address or yard data. No affiliate links in plant recommendations, so a suggestion is never there because someone paid for it.
